Peabody Museum approved reproduction scrimshaw, from the Save the Whale Collection. This polymer of a 19th century whale tooth, hand cast and hand finished, using molds taken directly from the original scrimshaw.
The original tooth has been at the Peabody Museum since 1941 and is estimated to be at least 125 years old. Liberty is illustrated on one side and the other side depicts the sea battle which resulted in the capture of the British brig of war Epervier by the American full-rigged sloop Peacock on April 29, 1814 off Cape Canaveral.
